Alexandra Gumbs earns the Good Citizen Award

Alexandra Gumbs, a Shelton High School senior, was given the Good Citizen Award by the Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Alexandra received a certificate and DAR Good Citizen pin. She plans to attend Princeton University after graduation.

The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest was created in 1934 and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Recipients are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
