Alexandria R. Gumbs, a resident of Shelton and student at Shelton High School, is one of 44 Connecticut high school seniors who have been awarded a Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship. To honor this year’s recipients, elected officials recently joined students and Comcast representatives at a special recognition ceremony at the state Capital.
“These Comcast Scholarship winners excel, not only in their schoolwork, but in their communities — helping those in need. I commend Comcast for recognizing young people who are great students and community leaders,” said Rep. Andy Fleischmann, House chairman of the General Assembly’s education committee. “I expect that many of these students will come back to Connecticut after college and take leadership roles in our state.”
