Basketball benefit helps cancer society

The Shelton High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams sponsored a “Suits and Sneakers” fundraiser on Feb. 1, to benefit the American Cancer Society. The theme came from the coaches versus cancer basketball games in which coaches wear sneakers with their suits while coaching their games. In addition, the basketball teams had Coaches v. Cancer Pink Double Header that day. The girls’ varsity team defeated Lyman Hall High School 42-32, while the boys’ varsity team defeated Cheshire High School 74-56. A “wall of hope” was created from the proceeds of selling cut-outs at the games.
