Shelton Board of Education receives leadership award

The Shelton Board of Education was presented with the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) Level One Leadership Award during the annual convention of CABE/CAPSS (Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents).

The CABE awards are designed to recognize boards and superintendents that exhibit leadership by working as teams. Boards must fulfill criteria such as student achievement, board member professional development, policy, community relations, and organizational leadership.

Accepting the award on behalf of the district at the event, held Nov. 15 and 16 at the Mystic Marriott, were Shelton school board members Faith Hack, Arlene Liscinsky and Timothy Walsh as well as School Supt. Freeman Burr.

CAPSS is a statewide nonprofit educational organization whose membership includes public school superintendents and other central office administrative personnel, state education officials, and college and university professors.
