Shelton High teachers and administrators win statewide honors

A group of six Shelton High School teachers and administrators were recognized at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) Celebration of Excellence.

Shelton High’s Team Pink, comprised of Jerry Kelley, Student Council advisor; Lynn Coffin and Erik Martire, National Honor Society co-advisors; John Skerritt, housemaster, and Beth Smith, headmaster, received the CAS Recognition of Excellence in Education Award.

A measurable impact

The award is given to school programs that have made a measurable impact on students, the school and the entire community.

SHS Team Pink coordinated school efforts in October to raise more than $6,000 for the Valley Goes Pink initiative to fight breast cancer.

Also at the CAS event, SHS English teacher and curriculum leader Dana Jeanette-Kneen received the Ronald McDonald House Charity Local Hero Award.
