Shelton resident graduates summa cum laude, will now attend Yale

Lauren Kane graduated summa cum laude from Salve Regina University with a bachelor’s in English literature on May 17. The university is in Newport, R.I.
Lauren completed the Pell Honors Program and is a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma honor society.

She was awarded the departmental award for excellence in literature, and was also awarded for outstanding campus leadership for her role as editor-in-chief of the Mosaic, Salve Regina’s student newspaper.

For her work in the Salve Regina writing center, she earned her certification as a writing tutor through the internationally-recognized College Reading and Learning Association.

Lauren will continue her education at Yale University, where she will earn her master’s in religion, with a concentration in literature at the Yale Divinity School.
