Students awarded for volunteering, academic achievements

The following high school students from Shelton were awarded the 2013 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience: Alexandria Gumbs, a student at Shelton High School; Michael Magocsi, a student at Saint Joseph High School; and Kristian Schif, a student at Shelton High School.

The award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in volunteer service and academic achievement.

Winners were presented the book First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers by Loung Ung.
