Beth Gabriel, a school parent and city Public Improvement Building Committee member, urged the Board of Aldermen to continue the \u201cmomentum\u201d to implement security measures in the schools. Gabriel said there has been \u201ca little hang-up\u201d when it comes to signing contracts to install ballistic security film on windows and do environmental remediation work. \u201cI want to keep this moving,\u201d she said. Mayor Mark Lauretti said the city will pay for certain enhancements, such as new security camera systems, but it\u2019s up the Board of Education to fund the window film. \u201cThat\u2019s their initiative,\u201d he said.
