Cathryn J. Witty, 67, of Birmingham AL recently passed away due to a sudden illness.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and M.Florence Vayan, her brother, Robert Vayan, Sr., and her beloved husband, Michael.

She is survived by her daughter, Cosette Witty-Lewis and her four grandchildren, Ashley Fraser, Siobhan Lewis, Sydney Lewis, and Colin Lewis. She delighted in her great grandchildren, Aurora and Mathias.

Cathryn grew up in the Stepney area and graduated from Masuk High School. After marriage she settled in the Shelton area to raise her family and was a long term employee of The Evening Sentinel as an accountant. She then worked for Thompson newspapers for several years before settling in Birmingham AL to work for CNHI as an accountant.

Cathryn took great pride in her country and its’ veterans, and was an active member of the VFW auxiliary at both the state and local level having served as a State President for the VFW Auxiliary in Connecticut.

She was an avid reader and loved to travel by land and sea. She was the champion of many causes and always there to support her fellow man.

There will be no calling hours and a graveside service is planned where she will be united with her husband, Michael.
