Obituary: Henry A. Kuba, 83, of Manchester, N.H., formerly of Shelton; Was accomplished golfer at Brownson
Henry A. Kuba, 83, of Birch Hill on Alliance Way, Manchester, formerly of Shelton, CT, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Bel-Air Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Goffstown, N.H. after a long and fulfilled life.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Lois M. (Wright) Kuba; two sons, Gary Kuba and his wife Elizabeth of Merrimack, Lawrence Kuba and his wife Kathryn of Nashua; five grandsons, Nicholas Kuba and his girlfriend Kendra of Manchester, Russell Kuba of Allston, MA, Ryan Kuba of Nashua, Brett Kuba of Brighton, MA and Matthew Kuba also of Nashua.
He was born and raised in Bridgeport CT, son of the late Henry and Jean (Kalagian) Kuba and graduated from the University of Bridgeport. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Shelton until moving to New Hampshire in 2011.
Henry was a purchasing manager for Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a division of United Technologies in Stratford, where he worked for 38 years until retiring in 1995.
He was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Shelton and a long time member of Brownson Country Club, also in Shelton, where he and his wife Lois won the Husband and Wife Club Championship in 1984 and 1990.
An accomplished golfer, he achieved the rare feat of a hole-in-one on seven occasions at several different golf courses. He also enjoyed coaching basketball for St. Ambrose Church in Bridgeport and the Orcutt Boys Club. He was also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed coaching for the Park City Little and Pony Leagues.
After cremation, memorial calling hours with Henry’s ashes will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, April 21 at Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, April 22 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 214 Main St., in Nashua. Burial of Henry’s ashes with a Committal Service will be held at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
