Paul DeLoache McGinnis Jr. 85, died Saturday, July 19 2014 at Danbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dorothy McGinnis of 61 years
He was the son of the late Paul DeLoache McGinnis, Sr. Millie Mae McGinnis and was born January 2, 1929 in North Wilkesboro, NC
Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, there in an instant for anyone in need. He was a 32nd Degree Freemason and Lifetime member of the Shriners, with the Benjamin B. French Lodge #15, Washington, D.C. , and recently accepted with dual membership into King Solomons Lodge #7, Woodbury, CT, chartered in 1765.
He was devout in his faith closing each day with affirmation, in a reading from the Bible. He loved history and actively followed current events, firm in his belief in the guiding principles of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Paul began a career of sales and marketing with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company in North Carolina, advancing to National Sales Manager of Allied Products with Consolidated Cigars at Gulf & Western in New York. Allied Products led him to the stationary industry and the position of Vice President of New Business and Development at Pilot Pen USA in Connecticut.
Moving south again to Georgia, he served as President of Schwan Stabilo USA, until the opening of his own import and distribution corporation, PDM Adhesives Corporation, where he served as President and CEO until his retirement in 2000. The success of his career lead him to travels around the world and earned him recognition in the American Directory Of Who’s Who In Executives And Businesses.
Survivors include his 3 children and 6 grandchildren. His daughter Melinda Welchel and her husband Keith, Matthew and his wife Sarah, a son Michael McGinnis and his wife Jan of Shelton and their three children, Katie, Connor and Kyle and a daughter,Laura Buzzanca and her husband Gary of Newtown and their two children Garrison and Anna.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 7/23 from 5-8 pm, at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ the king Church, 85 Mt. Pleasant Rd. (Rt. 25) Newtown.
