Vincent E. Far, 81, of Shelton
He was born in Shelton on March 13, 1932, son of the late Vincent and Mary (Pisicane) Far and was a lifelong Shelton resident.
Vincent was a Teacher for 32 years in Stratford School Systems before his retirement in 1989. He was an Army veteran serving during Korean War honorable discharge as a corporal and was a 50 year member of the American Legion Sutter Terlizzi Post.
Vincent was educated in the Shelton School System. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from Southern CT State University. He continued his education at Fairfield University where he received his 6th year certificate.
After retirement, Vincent and his wife moved to Florida for 18 wonderful years, golfing and traveling with their friends. While in Florida he volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul running the food bank.
He is survived by his beloved son Christopher Far and his wife Maryann, loving granddaughters Jacqueline Ribalaigua and her husband Alex and Elizabeth Clement and her husband Justin, great grandson Dylan Ribalaigua, brother Robert Far and his wife Francine, brother-in-law’s Gene Buchli and Ronald Zeuren and his wife Pat and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a loving son Glenn Far and a sister Louise Buchli
Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center at Griffin Hospital or St. Margaret Mary Church through the funeral director.
