To the Editor:

Please join me in supporting the bipartisan team of 3rd Ward Aldermen candidates, Matt McGee and Chris Jones. I have been a resident of Shelton for almost a decade now, but it hasn’t been until this past year that I have become involved in the community.

Being originally from Goshen, I am accustomed to a small town where everybody knows everybody. So, planting roots in a city the size of Shelton has been an adjustment. My main motivation to support Matt and Chris comes from wanting what’s best for my two boys. I want them to be raised in a place that’s similar to- if not better than- where I’m from. I’m comfortable with Chris and Matt because I’ve already witnessed them coming together around our shared vision and putting thoughts and words into action.

With Chris, not only was he born and raised here in town, but he is a third-generation resident of Shelton. He bleeds Orange and Black, and I admire that. But the thing that hits home for me about Chris is that he cares deeply about small businesses and sports. A good community leans on certain things such as the arts, sports, and the mom-and-pop shops down the road. Chris is also very welcoming, and I want that kind of hospitable leadership for the new folks moving into Shelton.

I told Matt I want Shelton to focus on better upkeep of roads and parks. Matt has already been an influential leader in organizing and executing the Shelton Clean-up Project. Being a part of his team has been fun and rewarding. Matt brings young energy, but a mature mindset. He astutely understands that, no matter what side of the aisle you are on, there are things we can all agree on, like simply making our city cleaner. His organizational skills are one of the things that has impressed me from the start. I am proud to support Matt and am excited to be a part of his future.
