To the Editor:

Considering that I am a candidate for public office and that this is a matter that may be considered when people go to vote on Nov. 2, my legal counsel and I have decided that it would be appropriate to break my silence on the pending defamation case filed against me by Primrose Companies, Inc. and Primrose Companies Realty, LLC.

I want you to know that I fully reject all claims made against me by the plaintiffs and intend to fight them in court. I have retained legal counsel, and we will be filing the appropriate motions soon. I have said from day one that this campaign is about representing regular people, not special interests such as developers. Obviously, this sentiment and some of my comments have rubbed a very powerful developer in town the wrong way, and now it seems they are doing everything they can to sink my campaign.

I intend to prove in court that the suit filed against me is frivolous, false and ultimately political. I also believe the lawsuit filed against me, if allowed to proceed, would set a dangerous precedent on free speech in Shelton. We cannot allow powerful town developers to infiltrate our political discourse and essentially block speech that they don’t like. Fighting this lawsuit is not just about the ramifications that it would have for my family and me, but ultimately it is about protecting free political speech for all candidates for public office in Shelton, regardless of political affiliation, past, present, and future.

Thank you to all for the continued love and support. Onward to Election Day.
