To the Editor:

I am a long time Shelton resident and voter. In November, we will vote to decide who will represent us in the 21st Senate District. One issue that is most important to me is women’s rights and specifically our right to control our own bodies and health. That includes the right to an abortion.

Chris Green, who is running for this seat has promised to defend these rights for the women of Connecticut. Our current senator has not openly expressed his position — not a good sign. Moreover, his party does not support this fundamental right.

Following the Dobbs decision, Republican Party leaders vowed to ban abortion nationally if they gain control of the Congress and White House. If that happens, our state protections will not help us. Sadly, the Republican Party is the party of extremists. We cannot trust them to respect women’s rights.

It is unbelievable to me that at 70, I am back to fighting for the same right I protested for more than 50 years ago. That is why I am voting for Chris Green. I can trust that he will defend the right of all women to this essential freedom.
