Letter: Supports McGee, Anglace in Shelton’s Third Ward

To The Editor:

As chairman of the Anti-Litter Committee, I am well aware of the reality that as our population rises our litter issue gets worse. The Anti-Litter Committee has worked hard to counteract this trend, Hosting annual clean sweeps, Facilitating the “adopt-a-street” public/private partnership, and whenever possible encouraging our residents to dispose of trash properly. I am proud of our committee and the work we have accomplished over the years.

I respect our current 3rd Ward Aldermen to the highest degree. They have done much good for our City and have worked collaboratively with the Anti-Litter Committee on many occasions. However, I am also of the opinion that we can no longer keep Shelton clean by just utilizing volunteers. There comes a point in time when every town can use new energy and a fresh perspective to respond to residents’ concerns and get them accomplished.

I have known Matt McGee for some time and think he would be a great fit alongside John Anglace, our current and beloved Alderman from the 3rd Ward. Matt’s passion and energy to serve the City of Shelton has been on full display over the years, most recently by his organization of the Shelton Clean-Up Project, a group that organizes litter clean-ups here in town. The amount of enthusiasm and results that group has produced has me excited for the year ahead, where I am hopeful to have the opportunity to work with both Matt and John in their capacity as Aldermen for the City of Shelton. I am certain they will be strong advocates for the Anti-Litter Committee and our efforts to take pride in our town and keep Shelton clean.
