COMMENTARY: Republicans will boost the state’s economic future
The leaves have begun to turn their festival fall colors, but in Hartford and Washington we still see a gloomy, dark-gray cover hanging over our economy and country.
The fact is that Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, along with U.S. Rep. Jim Himes and Rosa DeLauro, are all responsible for agreeing with — and supporting — legislation the circumvents and walks all over the U.S. Constitution while supporting a corrupt and very unprepared Obama administration.
It has became very evident that the voices of the people were not heard when government-sanctioned healthcare was forced upon the populous and our Second Amendment rights were beaten and torn away from the Constitution.
And Congress (Himes and DeLauro), along with President Barack Obama, will not be participating in the healthcare plan and they will not have to pay a premium tax for their very expensive, taxpayer-paid-for platinum heath insurance plans.
It’s just as strange that these so-called “people persons” enjoy personal gun-carrying security staff at taxpayers’ expense. They are your “do as I say, not as I do” elected officials.
Higher prices and higher taxes
Our present Connecticut representation in Washington is all Democrats who have done nothing but sit by and watch while gas had doubled in price (remember $1.86 in 2008) along with electricity, taxes and fees have climbed, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and other government agencies have destroyed businesses with unnecessary over-regulation.
Let’s not forget that under their watch, the United States was downgraded financially and we now sit behind China as an economic power.
You, and you only, have the power to rectify this situation by voting on Nov. 4 for the Republican candidates in all offices across the state.
Balance and common sense
Please cast your ballots for Dan Debicella and James Brown in the 4th and 3rd Congressional Districts respectively, and bring balance and common sense to Washington, and add some sharp business people in Hartford by supporting Tom Foley for governor and Heather Somers for lieutenant governor.
Don’t lose the power to make this decision to others who are not informed.
The expertise and wisdom of these four candidates will go a long way to reshape and enhance our country and our state’s economic outlook.
Tough and not always popular decisions need to be made. Your vote for the Republican team candidates is critical to Connecticut’s economic future.
Making tough decisions
I look at it this way: Shelton has prospered, even under difficult economic times, because it has a Republican administration under Mayor Mark Lauretti that has made the tough decisions to keep our city from falling apart financially.
We need to bring these same principles and decision-making powers to Hartford and Washington. Foley, Somers, Debicella and Brown are ready, willing and able to do just that.
Enjoy the fall colors and don’t forget to shop locally and support our Shelton businesses.
Anthony F. Simonetti is chairman of the Shelton Republican Town Committee as well as an alderman for the First Ward.
