Commuter advocate Cameron brings Talking Transportation to HAN

Jim Cameron, the biggest voice for Connecticut commuters, joins HAN Radio and the Hersam Acorn Network this week. Cameron, who has been writing his Talking Transportation column for Hersam Acorn newspapers for nearly a decade, is bringing it to a new medium.

He will offer weekly transportation commentary about Connecticut and the surrounding area during HAN Radio’s Coffee Break, which airs Monday to Friday, from 11-noon.

Coffee Break, which celebrated its one-year anniversary on May 5, is a daily look at news, weather, traffic and sports in southwestern Connecticut. The show is also simulcast in live-streaming video at

“I am so happy to be partnering with HAN Radio and helping transition Talking Transportation from a twice-monthly print newspaper column into a weekly audio/video podcast,” Cameron said this week.

“I’ve been authoring Talking Transportation for a decade and have written about hundreds of different topics — our highways, commuter rail, airlines and even cruise ships. Reader feedback has been great with many columns inspired by their ideas,” he said.

Has worked in radio and TV

“But what readers don’t know is that I used to work in radio,” Cameron said. “I cut my teeth at stations in Connecticut and Boston before joining NBC News as founding news director of The Source young adult network. So getting behind a microphone again is like meeting an old friend.”
