The local Goodwill has been selected to participate in a program designed to help women succeed in the workplace. The program is funded by the Walmart Foundation. Shelton is home to a Walmart store. During the next two years, Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut will help 230 local women who are unemployed or under-employed through the Beyond Jobs Program. The Beyond Jobs Program is designed to provide women with all the tools they need to find employment, succeed in the workplace and support their families. Each woman in the program will receive a career assessment that includes job training, placement services and additional support to help them achieve economic security, advance in their careers, and support themselves and their families in the long term. Beyond Jobs program participants will receive financial education, family strengthening services, early education and childcare assistance, and connections to healthy food and nutrition initiatives. The program is a way to assist local women to have better, more productive and more fulfilling lives.
