Letter: ‘Jack is devoted to our great city’

To the Editor:

I proudly support John “Jack” Finn in his bid for re-election as Alderman in Shelton’s First Ward. Jack is devoted to our great city and the residents of the First Ward as demonstrated by his thirty years of service on the Board of Aldermen. He exemplifies what it means to give back to the community and our country. As many of you know, Jack is a Vietnam Veteran. He is also a member of the White Hills Fire Company and many local charitable and service organizations.

I am fortunate to have known the Finn family for many years. Jack’s late wife Susan was my kindergarten teacher at Elizabeth Shelton School. Similar to his late wife, Jack knows the value and importance of maintaining a quality education system in Shelton. Recently, Jack advocated for funding to implement full day kindergarten and to eliminate “pay to participate.”

With his experience as a public servant, he understands the importance of assisting and communicating with Shelton’s residents. Jack prides himself on being available to promptly answer questions from residents and to address concerns regarding local issues ranging from potholes to playground equipment.

As a member of Shelton’s Board of Apportionment & Taxation, I have been able to observe and work with Jack during the budget process. He asks pointed questions and raises issues related to the budget that many others avoid. Through his words and actions, Jack supports maintaining our low taxes and creating more transparency and accountability in our local government.

Please join me in supporting John “Jack” Finn on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
