Letter: Library Friends group offers thanks for Steve Berry visit help

To the Editor:

The Friends of the Shelton Libraries hosted a wonderful evening on Monday, May 19, when best-selling author Steve Berry visited Shelton to present his new book, The Lincoln Myth, and engage in a book discussion and book signing.

Approximately 100 people attended the event, which was planned to raise funds for an elevator in the Plumb Memorial Library.

The following generous sponsors allowed us to maximize our fund-raising efforts for this project:

The Hyatt House Hotel granted us use of their conference room and the assistance of their employees that evening.

Industrial Health & Safety Consultants and the Valley Community Foundation donated the books. Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock sponsored the wine bar. Conner Printing printed all of the flyers and tickets for the evening.

ShopRite of Shelton donated the beautiful flower arrangements that were on display. Chaves Bakery, Royal Bakery, and Stockbridge’s Cheesecakes donated the baked goods for the dessert bar.

Betts Books of Fairfield, D’Addario of Shelton, Huntington Family Dental of Shelton, and People’s United Bank of Shelton all made monetary donations, and Written Words Bookstore of Shelton was our marketing partner.

Many thanks to our generous sponsors and to all who made the evening so memorable.
