Obituary: Douglas Charles Dreyer, 73, formerly of Shelton

Mr. Douglas Charles Dreyer, 73, formerly of Shelton, passed away April 23, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Son of the late Charles and Blanche Poma Dreyer, he was born February 12, 1940 in Teaneck, NJ.

Mr. Dreyer was a graduate of Gettysburg College, a U.S. Army veteran and retired after 43 years as an investment advisor.

Doug was a volunteer at the Mayo Clinic (Scottsdale, AZ) and was a member of the Men’s Golf Association of Rock Barn.

A kind gentle person with a great sense of humor, he “lived” for golf and was devoted to his wife, his children and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Joyce Dreyer; his five strong independent children, Chuck Dreyer and wife, Kristen of Ashland, MA, Suzanne Schultze and husband, Deke of Acton, MA, Susan Nelson and husband, Scott of Connelly Springs, Sandra Phillis and husband, Tim of Gilbert, AZ and Jennifer Hackett and husband, Craig of Epping, NH; nine grandchildren, Kate and Meghan Dreyer, Maxine and Lucie Schultze, Jessica and Madison Nelson, Jack Phillis and Leah and Alanna Hackett; a brother-in-law, Thomas Hampson and two nieces, Ashley and Alaina Hampson.

The family will be celebrating Doug’s life in private. Catawba Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations are providing professional services to the Dreyer Family.
