Obituary: June Rose Woznick Nowell of Shelton

June Rose Woznick Nowell of Shelton, beloved wife of John T Nowell Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Friday December 13, 2013 at Griffin Hospital.

Born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Edward and Jean Roberts Woznick on April 23, 1941.

June grew up and was educated in Bridgeport before moving to Shelton 50 years ago. She was a longtime parishioner of St Lawrence Church in Huntington and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and the UConn Basketball and Football teams.

June enjoyed her 33 year career at Sikorsky Aircraft Co. in Stratford where she was a Contract Administrator. After retiring in 1998, June enjoyed volunteer work working in the school library, serving as a room “grandmother” and reading to children.

She was a wonderful giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and devoted her time to her family hosting the annual Easter egg hunt, summer picnics and of course Christmas dinner for the past 50 years was her passion. She never missed a basketball, football, baseball or soccer game that her grandsons played and until October of this year still watched her great grandsons play baseball in Prospect. She looked forward every year to her great-granddaughter’s dance recital and loved watching her cheerlead.

She loved shopping for all the family’s birthdays, anniversaries, and especially Christmas and always made everyone feel special. June loved traveling with her family and especially enjoyed cruising and Disney. She also enjoyed exercising at the Griffin Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Facility.

Besides her husband John, June will be sorely missed be her three loving daughters June Walker and husband Albert, Jan Daigle and husband Mike, Jill Groves and husband Tom, her seven grandchildren: Thomas Giambra and wife Ashleigh, Mike Daigle Jr. and wife Kristi, Bill Giambra and wife Melinda, Scott Daigle, Adam Walker, Shannon Groves, and Brian Walker; five great grandchildren Tyler Giambra, Riley Daigle, Jordan Giambra, Peighton Giambra and Brody Daigle, sister Carol Hayton and husband Wally and two nieces.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter Jamie Lynn Giambra.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the JAMES T. TOOHEY & SON FUNERAL HOME, 92 HOWE AVE., SHELTON. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Lawrence Church, Huntington. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe.Obitu
