Obituary: Thomas “Tom” Puopolo, 71, of Jupiter, Fla., formerly of Shelton

Thomas “Tom” Puopolo, age 71, of Jupiter, Fl entered into rest on January 7, 2014 with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Derby on December 23, 1942, son of the late Thomas and Mary Puopolo, and was a resident of of Shelton until moving to Jupiter, Fla. 30 years ago.

After attending Shelton High School, Tom served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Crisis. When he returned home, Tom began a career as a Police Officer in the City of Shelton.

He retired from the Shelton Police Department and went to work in the security department for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford. He was transferred, 30 years ago, to oversee the security operation in the Sikorsky Florida Plant, a position that he held until his retirement in December 2013.

While in Shelton he was a member of the Echo Hose Hook and Ladder Company # 1. He loved boating, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.

Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years Joanne Michelson Puopolo, his daughter, Robin Puopolo, his granddaughter Miranda Crouse, three sisters, Helen Dobkowski, Mary Ann DeWan, Beverly Sirgiannis and several nieces and nephews

Friends may greet his family on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
