Mary Butrico Pollastrino, age 94, of Derby entered into eternal rest on Thursday Dec. 27, 2012 in Birmingham Health Care Center with her loving family by her side. She is the wife of Philip Pollastrino and was the former wife of the late Rudolph Durso. She was born in NY City, NY on May 18, 1918 daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Bruno)Butrico. She has been a valley resident for 25 years, previously living in New York and California. Mary was employed in the banking industry and became a Chief Teller and Supervisor. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and classic movies Mary was a proud New Yorker and was chosen as a \u201cMiss Subways\u201d at age 20. She is survived by her beloved daughter Leona Atkin and her husband Robert of Shelton, two grandsons, Evan Atkin and his wife Naoko and Scott Atkin and his wife Alison, one great granddaughter Emma Atkin, several nieces and nephews, especially Christopher, Michael and Lois, and Dennis and Roseanne. She was predeceased by two brothers Angelo and Nicholas Butrico, a Ranger in the Normandy invasion, and one sister Josephine LaSalle. Her services were held in New York at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton was entrusted with the arrangements.
