Marjorie Ruth Beattie, age 86 of Shelton, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Cambridge Manor, Fairfield. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Franklin A. Beattie. Marjorie was born in Bridgeport and was daughter of the late Theodore and Margaret Hauslaib Anton. Marjorie volunteered on many activities with the Iwo Jima Survivors Foundation and Huntington VFW Post #10466 annual poppy sale. She enjoyed camping trips to Vermont, traveled to Hawaii and Virginia with the Iwo Jima Survivors and Mexico with the Girl Scouts. Along with being a full-time mother and wife, she loved to garden, bake and make crafts. Survivors in addition to her husband include a son Wayne Beattie and wife Peg of Orange, daughter Diane Gesseck and husband Bob of Derby, two grandchildren Cindy Bowen and husband Bill and Kevin Gesseck, a brother John Anton, sister Dorothy Koger both of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Mezick. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30am in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton.
