Republican Mark Lauretti easily won a 12th term at the top of the ticket in Shelton this year. He also has won by wide margins in recent years, including six years ago against 2013 Democratic nominee David Gioiello.
His most serious challenges came in 2009 in his first race against Chris Jones, and in 2005 vs. former Mayor Michael Pacowta.
Lauretti was first elected in 1991.
