About 100 people attended the inauguration ceremony, at which people were sworn into many municipal offices. State Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis administered the oaths to Shelton’s newly elected officials.

“When people say it’s a team effort, it really is a team effort,” Lauretti said in his remarks, thanking all the elected officials — from both political parties — for their service and dedication to the city

Lauretti, a Republican, was first elected to office in 1991. He won his 12th two-year term on Nov. 5 with 77% of the vote.

The ceremony was followed by a reception with food and refreshments.
