Prez Palmer said on Aug. 23 that he is the Democratic Party candidate challenging Republican incumbent Kevin Kelly for the state Senate District 21 seat in November.

The district includes all of Shelton.

Palmer was at the rally for Gov. Dannel Malloy on Paradise Green and introduced himself to The Stratford Star, another Hersam Acorn publication.

A life-long resident of Stratford, Palmer is a Realtor with William Pitt Sotheby’s in Stratford and also is a life insurance agent.

He said he is also a U.S. Army officer combat veteran.

When asked how he plans to defeat Kelly, Palmer said, “I’m just going to do it.” He has met with Democratic town committees in Shelton, Seymour and Monroe, the towns other than Stratford in the 21st District, and he is now appointing a campaign treasurer and committee.

According to Palmer, Kelly is vulnerable on issues of gun restrictions, real estate values and foreclosures, and “the sustainability of major employers.”

Kelly, an attorney in Stratford, is now in his second term. The 21st Senate District includes all of Shelton, most of Stratford, and parts of Monroe and Seymour.
