State Sen. John McKinney won Shelton by a comfortable margin, but lost the statewide race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination to Tom Foley.
That sets up a rematch in November between Foley, a former U.S. ambassador to Ireland, with first-term Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
Republican voters in Shelton voted in three statewide races today, and some also voted in a local state representative primary.
Shelton resident Angel Cadena, who was running for state comptroller, lost in Shelton and also lost statewide.
Below are the unofficial Shelton results for the statewide offices:
GOVERNOR

Tom Foley — 692
LT. GOVERNOR
Heather Somers — 540
David M. Walker — 516
Penny Bacchiochi — 460
