Gov. Dannel P. Malloy today announced that a special election to fill a vacancy in the state House of Representatives serving the 122nd\u00a0Assembly District, which covers portions of Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull, will be held on\u00a0Tuesday, July 22. The seat had been held by state Rep. Lawrence G. Miller, who died May 31. Under state law, the governor is required to issue a Writ of Special Election within 10 days of a vacancy in the General Assembly, and a special election must be held 46 days after its issuance. Malloy is filing the writs \u2014 one for each of the town clerks of Shelton, Stratford and Trumbull \u2014 today. The Republicans and Democrats will meet to nominate candidates for the special election. Miller was a Republican who was in his 12th term. He lived in northern Stratford.
