Boys swimming: Gaels 10th in Class L

Shelton finished 10th with 228 points at the Class L State Swimming Championships on Wednesday night at Wesleyan University.

The Gaels broke five school records on the night.

Shelton was led by Hunter Wronski, who finished third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.30, setting a school record and earning all-state honors. Wronski also finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.97, breaking his own school record.

Reid Chavez also broke his own school record in the 100 butterfly. Finishing 7th with a time of 54.19. Chavez also finished 12th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.37.

The Gaels 200 Medley Relay of Marc Maleri, Hunter Wronski, Jack Marciano, and Reid Chavez finished seventh with a time of 1:44.02. The 400 Freestyle relay of Reid Chavez, Sebastian Musante, Marc Maleri, and Hunter Wronski finished 5th with a time of 3:27.65. Both times were school records.

Also swimming for the Gaels, Jack Marciano finished 17th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.45, Sebastian Musante finished 22nd in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:24.37 and Marc Maleri finished 13th in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.20. The 200 freestyle relay of Sebastian Musante, Eni Stafa, Jack Marciano, and Agean Binan finished 16th with a time of 1:40.41.
