The Shelton High boys volleyball team rallied past Greenwich High 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-23, 15-11) in the first round of the Class L state tournament at Murray Gymnasium.

The third-seeded Gaels (19-2) advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will host No. 6 Glastonbury High (17-3) on Friday at 6 p.m.

Leading the charge against No. 14 seed Greenwich was Grant Fevrier, with 25 kills, six digs and two aces. Rhodric McCurdy added 45 assists, nine digs and one block, Jimmy Hunter 11 digs, three kills and three assists and Patrick Devaney five kills and two blocks.

Greenwich finished its season at 7-10 overall.
