Cross country, Shelton boys fifth, girls eighth in SCC

The Shelton High boys team placed fifth at the Southern Connecticut Conference cross country championships held at the 5K course at Hammonasset State Park in Madison on Oct. 22.

Amity of Woodbridge (46) repeated as SCC champs. Fairfield Prep (57) was followed by Guilford (105), Cheshire (115) and Shelton (140).

Robert Dlllon was 22nd (17:07), William Simics 23rd (17:08) and Joshua Wilson 26th (17:14. The Gaels’ Joe Niski was 34th (17:30), Matthew Wells 35th (17:35), Matthew Richard 51st (17:59) and Tyler Pineau 119th (20:46).

The Shelton girls team placed eighth with a score of 233. Amity (82) won the title followed by Cheshire (104), Mercy of Middletown (108), Guilford (121) and Daniel Hand of Madison (122).

Courtney Russo was 37th (21:41), Anna Weissenberg 38th (21:42) and Virginia Lewis 44th (22:04). Devin Spisto was 55th (22:42), Claire Santa 59th (22:52), Amanda LoMonte 64th (23:00) and Olivia Adcox 77th (23:32).
