The Shelton High defense shut out host Guilford, and Gael quarterback Jake Roberts rushed for a score and threw for a touchdown, when coach Jeff Roy’s crew defeated the Indians 17-0 on Thursday night.
Brian Berritto caught the 10-yard TD pass from Roberts, who ran for a 1-yard TD.
Nick Andrade kicked a 29-yard field goal for the 3-1 Gaels.
Roberts completed 18 of 29 passes for 238 yards. Giorgio Ghazal had 92 yards rushing.
Jake Breton had eight tackles, including a quarterback sack, as Guilford dropped to 2-1.
Shelton will host North Haven (3-1) in an SCC Tier 1 matchup on Friday at 7.
North Haven boasts a 17-14 victory over Cheshire.
The Gaels lost to Cheshire 35-21 in week one.
The Indians loss came 33-27 to unbeaten West Haven on opening night.
They have defeated Harding (54-35) and Creed/Career/Whitney (49-14).
Mark Montano, Zach Orth and Alex Ciaburro lead North Haven’s patented running game.
