Shelton High, the No. 11 seed, will visit No. 6 Sheehan in Wallingford in the first round of the SCC playoffs on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Fourteen teams have qualified for the 2019 SCC girls basketball playoffs – the 25th held by the league.
From 1995 to 2007, the SCC held an eight-team tournament.
In 2008, the league expanded the tournament (up to 16 teams) for those teams that win at least eight regular-season games.
East Haven and Hamden are the top two seeds – and will receive first-round byes.
Nine different teams have won a SCC girls basketball championship, led by Hillhouse (6) and Mercy (5).  Guilford and Career each have won four titles.
Fourth-seeded Mercy is the two-time defending SCC champion.
