Kozak sets record, Shelton fourth at Eastern Sectionals

Audrey Kozak led Shelton to a fourth-place finish at the SCC Eastern Sectionals.

Kozak placed second in the triple jump with a school record 36-3 feet to finish behind Sheehan’s Erin Brennan (36-3). A sophomore for coach Jason Kymer, Kozak placed third in the high jump at 4-8 feet and was fourth in the 200-meter dash (27.37).

Sheehan won the team title. Cheshire was second, Hillhouse third and Amity fourth in the competition held at Bowen Field in New Haven.

Adriana Franzese, Mia Chen, Liz Porto and Great Parkes earned third place in the 4x800 relay with a time of 10:15.75.

Susan Porto took third with a pole vault of 8-6 feet.

Annelyse Sherman took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (50.12). The junior placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.92).

Andriana Franzese earned fourth in the 3200-meter run in 12:08.60. A junior, she was seventh in the 1600-meter run (5:33.78).

Aida Ouloul captured fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.85. The junior tied for seventh in the pole vault (7 feet).

Elizabeth Uyar placed fifth with a shot put of 33-1 feet. The senior was 10th in the discus (73 feet).

Kaelyn Horn, Erika Olson, Ouloul and LeAnn Francois placed sixth in the 4x100 relay (53.75).

Emily Codere, Taylor Ostrosky, Chen and Olson were sixth in the 4x400 relay in 4:23.30.

Olson took seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.86.

Parkes took eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.25.

Porto placed ninth in the 300-meter hurdles (53.17). The senior was 10th in the pole vault (7 feet).

Rebekkah Hurlbert took ninth in the discus throw (55-5). The sophomore was 10th in the shot put (28-8.5 feet).

Leah Francois took 11th in the javelin with a throw of 72-1 feet. The senior was 12th (27-5.5) in the shot put.

Anna Andrejczyk was 11th in the 3200 (13:58.02).

Alyssa Verdicchio took 13th in the long jump at 13-9 feet. The senior was 16th in the triple jump (28-8).

Anna Hynes was 14th in the 1600 (6:45.37). Amy Agreda was 16th (7:00.72).

Olivia Marino placed 14th (13-9) in the long jump.

Olivia Salluhi was 15th in the 300-meter hurdles (57.60).

Gianna Bacoulis was 17th and Codere 20th in the high jump.

Giovanna Gonzales was 19th (22-3) in the shot put.

The SCC Championships, combining top placers from the Eastern and Western Sectionals, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bowen Field in New Haven. There is a $5 charge for spectators.
