Lorent wins two titles, Shelton boys third at Sectional track

Shelton’s Jason Lorent captured two individual titles at the SCC Eastern Sectional track and field meet at Bowen Field in New Haven.

Lorent broke school records when the senior ran 10.65 to win the 100-meter dash. His time of 21.84 in the 200-meter brought him another gold medal.

Lorent also was anchor on the school-record setting 4x400 relay with Samuel Klein, Aidan O’Grady and Josh Zamani. Their time of 3:30.91 was good for third place.

Coach Mike Gambardella’s Gaels placed third behind Daniel Hand and Hillhouse.

Andrew Mysirlidis was second with a shot put of 45-09 feet. The senior took 10th in the discus throw (104-6 feet).

Tim Santos earned third in the javelin throw at 140-1 feet. The senior was 19th in the discus (91-3).

Connor Picheco, Klein, Zamani and Ari Papadimitriou finished fourth in the 4x100 relay in 45.15.

Carson McKinnon was fourth in the discus throw at 119-6 feet. The senior was sixth in the shot put (40-1).

Picheco, Jayden Opper, Jackson Jones and O’Grady took fifth in the 4x800 relay (8:45.24).

Will Rodrigues led distance runners. The junior was fifth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:17.77. He was seventh in the 1600-meter run (4:39.85).

Klein ran a 23.40 as the junior placed fifth in the 100.

Freshman Matt Oko placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.43. He was seventh in the 200-meter hurdles (47.40).

Ryan Kudej placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 125-10 feet.

Papadimitriou took sixth in the triple jump at 38-8 feet.

Tyler Radzion was seventh (40-1) in the shot put. The sophomore was 15th in the discus (95-11).

Narmer Bazile was seventh in the 110 hurdles (20.10) and 11th in the 300 hurdles (49.91).

Arvin Islam placed seventh with a pole vault of 9-6 feet. He was 22nd in the long jump (14-10 feet).

Jacob Villalobos was eighth in the javelin (119-0)).

Zamani took ninth in the 400-meter dash (54.01). Christian Magel was 21st.

Jeremy Aprea took 10th in the 3200 (10:49.84). Opper was 11th (10:49.98). Andrew Cole was 17th (11:28.03).

Joe Savino placed 14th in the long jump at 17-5 feet.

Joe Giovannini was 16th in the 1600 (5:10.35).

Picheco was 20th in the long jump (16-01).

David Sekelsky placed 20th in the javelin throw (99-4 feet).

The SCC Championships, combining top placers from the Eastern and Western Sectionals, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bowen Field in New Haven. There is a $5 charge for spectators.
