Resto, Leone homer, Shelton softball tops Hillhouse

Alexis Resto had three hits and six RBIs while Anna Leone plated five runs and had two hits to lead the Shelton softball team to a 20-2 win at Hillhouse in New Haven on Saturday.

“Alex had a grand slam homer and a double,” said Lindsay Wheeler, who replaced Joann Desrochers as head coach and won the season opener for each team. “Anna hit a home run and also had a double.”

Shelton scored 11 runs in its first at bat and nine more in the second inning.

Julia Krijgsman pitched two innings of no-run ball and Bria Hayden pitched the final two frames.
