Shelton boys team up to sweep tri-meet

Shelton earned 11 individual firsts in its meet with Hamden and Career Magnet.

Sam Klein and Ari Papdimitriou shared the top spot in the 100-meter dash (11.1 seconds).

Klein was meet best in the 400 in 52.4 seconds. Alex Kiely took sixth (1:04.9).

Connor Picheco tied for first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.1 seconds. He was third in the 100 (12.0 seconds).

Will Rodriguez captured first in the 1600-meter run in 4:51. Harrison Garrett was third (5:05), Joseph Giovannini fourth (5:09), Gabriel Zamani fifth (5:17), Mateus Puttock sixth (5:29), Alexander Baneat seventh (5:29.1), Joseph Schiappa eighth (5:39), Joseph Vostinak ninth (5:43), Jack Gloria tied for 11th (6:11), Mattieu Moretti 13th (8:25) and Julien Moretti 14th (10:57).

Jayden Opper took first in 10:48.9 to lead a strong showing in the 3200-meter run. Jeremy Aprea was second (10:52.8), Ben DeMartino third (10:54.3), Matt Darak fourth (11:14.5) and Demetri Franzese fifth (11:15.7).

Ethan Oko (16.1 seconds) led a sweep in the 100-meter hurdles. Eric Paceco was second (19.1) and Carmel Diur third (21.1). Oko was back at it in the 300-meter hurdles, winning in 46.9 seconds.

Aidan O’Grady brought home first in the 800-meter run (2:08). Matt Darak was third (2:13) and Paul Pavliouk fourth (2:20). Demetri Francese and Christopher Carroll tied for fifth (2:22). Ben DeMartino was seventh (2:24) and Owen Telesmanick (2:38).

Colin English (9 feet), Arvin Islam (8-6) and Ben Sanchez (8-0) swept the pole vault.

Joe Savino earned first in the high jump at 5 foot, 8 inches. He was second in the triple jump (37-11) and third in the long jump (18-11.5).

Jacob Villalobos won the javelin with a throw of 126 feet, two inches. He was third in the discus (80-11).

Tyler Radzion was first in the discus throw (96 feet) and second in the shot put (37 feet, 3.5 inches).

Papdimitriou, Oko, Picheco and Klein were first in the 4x100 relay (44.1 seconds).

Pacheco, Jackson Jones, Opper and O’Grady won the 4x800 relay (8:46.6).

Rodrigues, Garrett, Pacheco and O’Grady were second in the 4x400 (3:48.4).

Ayden Sepkasi was second in the javelin (124-1). Giliotti was third (108-10), Declan Forlenzo fifth (98-6) and Islam sixth (89-9).

Patrick Nerette was third in the shot put (34-6), Joe Giliotti fourth (32-5.5) and Villalobos fifth (31-2).

Giliotti was fourth in the discus (77-3). Sepkasi was fifth (59-0).

Tijani Adeyi tied for fourth (5-4) in the high jump.

Malachi Mitchell was fifth (17-0) and Richard Curry was 16th (10-11.5) in the long jump.

Devin Reid tied for sixth in the 200 (25.1 seconds). Trevor Kiman tied for 10th (26.1).

Jason Hutchinson was eighth in the triple jump (31-0) and Curry ninth (25-5.5).

Shelton vs. Daniel Hand

Sam Klein and Ayden Sepkasi each won two events in an 86-64 loss to unbeaten Daniel Hand in Madison.

Klein posted wins in the 100-meter dash in 11.1 seconds. The senior tri-captain took first in the 200-meter run with a time of 23.0 seconds.

Sepkaski, a junior, was meet best in the javelin (137-0 feet) and the discus throw (104 feet 2 inches).

Arvin Islam captured the pole vault at 11 feet. Joe Giliotti won shot put at 38 feet 6 inches.

Shelton won the 4x100 in 45.1 seconds.
