Shelton girls basketball defeats Sheehan

Laryssa Guimaraes put forth a 20-point, 16-rebound performance to lead Shelton to its 44-37 win against Sheehan.

Coach John Danielski’s Gaelettes attacked the rim and outscored the Titans 22-12 in the paint. Shelton blocked nine shots. Guimaraes had five blocks and three assists.

Alexis Resto had four points, six rebounds two assists. Emily Codere seven points, six rebounds, two blocks, Ariana Suarez six points, Emily Ahern five rebounds and two assists, Sophia Alkaul three points, two assists and two blocks, Emily Carlin two points two assists and Hayley James two points.

West Haven improved to 11-1 with a 74-47 win over Shelton. Suarez scored 17 points, with four 3-pointers. Guimaraes had 12 points. Carmelo DeFeo knocked down two 3-pointers. Emily Lobere made two baskets.

Boys’ basketball

Third ranked Notre Dame-West Haven defeated Shelton 76-35.

Timaury Gay, Andrew Lazarre and Tajae Jones all scored 13 points to help Notre Dame (14-0) remain undefeated in SCC play.

Ricky Feola led Shelton with nine points. Vin DeFeo was 6 for 8 from the foul line and finished with eight points. Dylan Camp made two 3-pointers. Gabe Carrion had five points.
