Shelton lowers seed times at SCC championship meet

Shelton finished 13th at Southern Connecticut Conference girls’ swimming championship Wednesday at the Hutchinson Natatorium on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University.

Amity scored 1,114 points to take first place. Cheshire was second with 1,099.50 and Lauralton Hall third with 817.

Greta Parkes, Kayla Bretan, Morgan Bucherati and Tara Mladsi placed sixth in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.73 for coach Tom Jurzynski. It was three-plus seconds under seed.

Parkes, Morgan Bucherati, Mladsi and Bretan were eighth in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:57.13. That time was better than seven seconds under seed.

Parkes was 12th in the 500-freestyle as the senior co-captain posted a time of 5:38.54, nearly 14 seconds better than seed. She took 18th in the 200-freestyle (2:08.00).

Bretan, a senior co-captain, took 13th in the 50-freestyle (26.26) and the 100-freestyle (58.43).

Mary Pavliouk, Amanda Madera, Ella Cristiano and Megan Bucherati were 15th in the 200-medley relay (2:13.59).

Mladsi, a sophomore, was 18th in the 100-freestyle (59.40) and 22nd in the 100-backstroke (1:08.27).

Morgan Bucherati took 24th in the 100-backstroke (1:09.05) and the 50-freestyle (27.54).

Megan Bucherati was 27th in the 500-freestyle in 6:09.28.
