Shelton sets record at Class LL girls swim

Shelton High finished eighth with 290.5 points in the Class LL Girls Swimming Championships on Tuesday night at Wesleyan University.

Coach Tom Jurzynski’s Gaelettes crowned two state champions.

Simona Visinski defended her state championship in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.70.

The 200 freestyle relay of Emma Parkes, Louise Kim, Caitlin McGuire and Visinski finished first with a school record time of 1:37.93.

Kim finished third in the 50 freestyle with a school record time of 23.95.

Visinski placed fourth in the same race with a time of 24.07.

Kim later finished tied for sixth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.07.

The 400 freestyle relay combination of Parkes, Kim, Alyssa Bretan and Visinski finished fifth with a time of 3:36.63.

Shelton finishes its season at the State Open Championship at Yale on Saturday afternoon.
