Shelton will travel to Cheshire on Friday for its final regular season game of the season.

The Gaels, currently seeded seventh in the Class LL playoff rankings, can extend its season with a victory over the 4-4 Rams.

Shelton dropped out of the GameTimeCt Top 10 Poll after a 53-0 loss to now No. 4 ranked Fairfield Prep. Cheshire fell to 7-1 West Haven 21-14.

Coach Mike DeFelice’s team will meet a full component of coach Dan Drust’s Rams.

Quarterback Matt Jeffery, out for almost a month with a broken elbow, marked his return to action with a 10-for-16 passing performance good for 156 yards. He threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Danny Zawalich and ran for a 10-yard score.

Star running back Christian Russo, back after a two-game absence, ran for 99 yards.

Shelton’s ground game keyed its 7-1 start to the season.

Tyler Rich has rushed for 662 yards and six touchdowns. Shane Santiago has 446 yards and seven scores. Ayden Sepkaski has ground out 215 yards and found paydirt three times.

Michael Kinik’s top receivers have been Ricky Feola, with 14 catches good for 191 yards, and John De Camps with 12 catches and 232 yards.

Cristiano Rosa is 5 for 7 on field goal attempts with 38 conversion kicks.
