Zoe Rogers scores goal in St. Michael’s soccer match with Roberts Wesleyan

Zoe Rogers from Shelton scored a goal when the Saint Michael's College women's soccer team went 1-1 at home last week, defeating Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College, 1-0, on Thursday during its opener before losing to Caldwell (N.J.) University, 3-2, in double overtime.

The Purple Knights led until the 79th minute against Caldwell before yielding the winner with 30.8 seconds remaining in the second overtime. Rogers and junior classmate (penalty kick) had the goals.

Saint Michael's had a pair of streaks come to an end in the loss: It had been 4-0-1 in its last five home games, while its shutout run of 440:37 at Duffy Field dating back to Oct. 19, 2019, was halted. The Purple Knights had shut out their last six non-conference opponents while going 10-1-1 against non-Northeast-10 Conference foes since 2014.
