Gymnastics: Tepper to compete in Showcase

Shelton High School senior Yarden Tepper has been doing gymnastics since she was two years old.

Recently, her hard work paid off when she was selected to the 2013 Connecticut National High School Gymnastics Team.

The team will compete at the Senior Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla. on May 17 and 18.

This competition features some of the nation’s most outstanding high school gymnasts.

Tepper has earned a number of awards as a SHS gymnast.

She has been selected to the All-Southern Connecticut Conference team, All-State team, All-American, Connecticut Post MVP, Connecticut Post All-Star Team and New Haven Register All-Area Team.

She was named the SCC All-Around Champion and SCC MVP.

“Three girls from Shelton were All-State and managed to grab more titles than much larger teams,” Tepper said.

“With a very small group of gymnasts we successfully competed with much larger teams and were able to stand out.

“It was a tough task putting Shelton on the map in terms of gymnastics and I am very proud of the accomplishment and being a part of it.

“Shelton gymnastics is now a force to be reckoned with. It means the world to me to represent my town in a national competition.”

Said Shelton High School Headmaster Beth Smith:

“Yarden is a dedicated athlete who excels in gymnastics. Her hard work has earned her the honor of representing her school and state on the national level.

“I congratulate Yarden on this wonderful accomplishment and wish her the best of luck in Florida.”
