Shelton cheer looks to repeat
The Southern Connecticut Conference will host its 10th Cheerleading Competition on Saturday, Feb. 7, at North Haven High School. The competition will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for students and senior citizens. Children under six will be admitted free.
Seventeen SCC schools are scheduled to participate in the competition in three categories divisions: all-girl, co-ed and exhibition.
Schools scheduled to compete include: Branford High (all-girl), Career Magnet (exhibition), Cheshire High (all-girl), Daniel Hand (co-ed), East Haven (all-girl), Foran High (all-girl), Hamden High (all-girl), Hillhouse (exhibition), Jonathan Law (all-girl), Lauralton Hall (all-girl), Lyman Hall (co-ed), Mercy (all-girl), North Haven (all-girl and exhibition), Sacred Heart Academy (all-girl), Sheehan High (all-girl), Shelton High (all-girl) and Wilbur Cross (co-ed).
In addition, two schools (Shelton and Branford) will have its Unified Cheer teams participate.
“The cheerleading competition has become a very exciting and fulfilling event for the Southern Connecticut Conference,” Commissioner Al Carbone said. “More importantly, our coaches and league administrators have worked together to ensure the competition is a safe and positive experience for all of our student athletes.”
Shelton and Lyman Hall were winners at last year’s SCC Cheerleading Competition.
