The Southern CT Youth Hockey Association, based in Milford and skating out of Milford Ice Pavilion, saw its state champion U16 team capture the USA Hockey Midget Tier II national championship. The Stars arrived in Troy, Michigan to represent the state in the National Championship Tournament in early April. They logged victories over the Michigan Ice Hawks (3-0), the Pittsburgh Huskies (7-3) and the Quincy, MA 67s (6-3) to survive Round 1. Ranked third in the nation by hockeyrankings.com going into the national contest, the Stars went on to defeat the Ashburn Extreme 6-3 in the quarterfinal to earn a semifinal berth. The Stars drew the entry from Illinois, the Highland Park Falcons, in their semifinal match-up on April 6, and handled them 5-2. On April 7, the Stars faced a local favorite, the Saint Clair Shores (MI) Saints, in championship game and defeated the Saints 4-1 to claim the national title.
