What you need to know: UConn is going to its first bowl game since 2015, when it lost the St. Petersburg Bowl to Marshall. In Jim Mora's first year, the Huskies are returning to a bowl game against that same opponent. Through a rash of injuries to key players, UConn bounced back from a 1-4 start. UConn will face a tough opponent, as Marshall has the lowest defensive third down conversion percentage in the country at 23.4%. The Huskies expect to have wide receivers Cam Ross and Keelan Marion available, as well as running back Brian Brewton. All three missed significant time due to injuries. The boost to the passing game could be crucial, as Marshall allows only 88.8 rushing yards per game. UConn's run-heavy offense has averaged 194.9 rushing yards per game and 106.9 passing yards per game. Marshall's running game has averaged 205.6 yards per game, while also averaging 200.3 receiving yards per game. Marshall is tied for sixth in the nation in turnovers gained with 25 (15 interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries). Marshall is a 10-point favorite.
