SIS spikers wrap up strong year

The Shelton Intermediate School volleyball team finished its season with a 8-4 record.

Coach Michelle Sedlock praised this year’s squad for a season of fine teamwork, focus and discipline.

The team was led by tri-captains Elise Wardell, Angie Toth and Ally Neilsen. Members included: Kayla Resto, Sophia Marino, Hope Kimornink, Jillian Kimornik, Nicole Jayakar, Natalie Ferrante, Emily Renkowski, Kayla Krijsman, Rachel Hansen, Gigi Gambionian Christina Crocco, Codi Lynders and Olivia Adams.

Grace and Lily Boles, and Alyssa Lake were the team managers.

At the annual awards postseason banquet, the following received awards: Most Valuable Player-Kayla Resto; Coaches Award-Ally Neilsen; Scholar-Athlete-Elise Wardell; Sportsmanship Award-Angie Toth.

The SIS Volleyball team and SIS TEEN Core also ran a “PINK” volleyball game to help raise funds for the “Valley Goes Pink” initiative and $832 were donated to Griffin Hospital on behalf of Shelton Intermediate School.

To close out the successful season, a student-faculty volleyball game was played and the faculty team won in a close and competitive match, 3-2.
